Digby Community Education Centre

There are no boundaries for our learners.  Access to our programs and services is continuous, and defined by the learner's needs.   All learners are afforded access to, and the opportunity to choose the program that fits their needs, whether it leads to a High School Diploma or receiving help with basic literacy skills.   All learners have access to job search assistance, career exploration & counselling, portfolio development courses and opportunities to practice and enhance their workplace skills.

At DCEC, our services and programs are supported and enchanced in many ways.   There is priority access to the Learning Grove Childcare Centre to assist our learners in returning to school or work.  There are opportunities to participate in a "full school" environment, including a vigorous, proactive Student Council, Graduation and Year-book Committees.

Things that our students have been saying about returning to learning:

• "I want to get my education so that I can get a better job and set an example for my son when he gets older ... at first I was scared, now I am glad I came back."
• "I thought that I wouldn't fit in because of what I went through before in high school ... now I don't care, I am here to learn ... not for what people might think of me."
• "I felt a bit nervous about it at first, I wasn't used to getting up early and having to go to school ... but, the people here have been great about everything and I felt comfortable after a few days."
